"What has saved me are the books I have read, from everything, but mainly from loneliness.
For example, it happens a lot on tours, when something happens to a plane and we're all stranded in an airport, that the musicians get desperate, they don't know what to do. But me, if I have a good book, I'm happy!
Books accompany me, they help me to think, to live a lot of lives different from mine. Instead of being like a caged animal staring at a plane that's leaving in six hours, I can be in ancient Rome living the lives of others. I think that's the only advice I've ever dared to give.
